WWE Crown Jewel featured Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens which ended up in chaos. Even before the bell could ring, both men took each other out and the heat followed on the blue brand as well.
Owens and Orton came face-to-face on this week’s WWE SmackDown, with security trying to keep them apart. However, after an exchange of a few shots from both men, Kevin Owens left the world surprised after hitting a banned move, the Piledriver, on The Viper.
Randy Orton was then stretchered out of the arena, with fans concerned whether the legend was seriously injured during the exchange. Following the brutal assault, WWE delivered a three-word message on X (fka Twitter), asking Owens why he decided to take out The Viper.
“WHY OWENS WHY?” wrote WWE.
It was further revealed that Randy Orton would be out of action indefinitely, after being diagnosed with cervical cord neurapraxia. This has left a plethora of fans in the WWE Universe concerned, with The Viper’s return uncertain.
While the former Universal Champion has seemingly taken The Legend Killer out of action with his brutal attack, he could now set his focus back on Cody Rhodes. Owens attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion in the parking lot following WWE Bad Blood 2024 and their feud has been on a pause since.
After Owens’ attack on Orton, The American Nightmare was seen assisting The Viper to the hospital, showing concern for his friend. With revenge on his mind on behalf of his friend and himself, a feud with Kevin Owens could work out the best for the next few weeks.
However, with Owens reaching a whole new level of evil with his recent heel turn, a match for the Undisputed WWE Championship would be a great idea as well. Time will now tell how WWE revisits the Owens-Rhodes saga next on SmackDown.
