The Vegas Golden Knights as… Super Smash Bros characters

Let’s have some fun with today’s article. Which Super Smash Bros. characters are closest to the Vegas Golden Knights?

There are plenty of things everybody likes, such as the new Sonic movie (except for Disney, of course), free pizza, and Super Smash Bros. These things bring joy to many people, myself included. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play as Pikachu and take on Captain Falcon with a slice of Little Caesar’s on a Friday night?

That would come after a hard-earned victory for the Vegas Golden Knights. Watching superstars like Mark Stone and Jack Eichel lay a “Final Smash” on their opponents is always fun to watch. Imagine if Stone summoned a fiery god-like version of himself on the ice. Perhaps Eichel could turn into Captain America and fire his shield at the opponent to everyone’s delight (except for Disney, of course).

Spending my Sunday looking up article ideas and doing work, I played a little bit of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS. I forgot how fun it was playing this as a young adult going to college. It was fun burning the time away between classes, pondering about my future and what it’d look like.

Now? It features the Golden Knights and winning players like Stone and Eichel. The NHL’s best team has played like a cheat code this season, unleashing the fourth-best attack in the league (3.54 goals per game). In turn, it’s made the Golden Knights impossible to play against.

So let’s get on the Smash train and have a fun little word association game, shall we? Which Golden Knights stars are closest to a Smash character? Get your controllers and Nintendo Switch’s ready, because it’s “on like Donkey Kong!”

Mark Stone as… Mario

The Captain should always get top billing as the franchise mascot, regardless of where he stands. That’s the moniker that Mark Stone has earned, pulling off incredible heroics and saving plenty of damsels in distress.

How? He’s scoring 10 goals and 33 points in 25 games this season. Stone’s on pace for 48 assists despite being out for a month. That’s the type of work you’d expect from your franchise face, which Stone delivers on a nightly basis. After all, he has 600 career points, which Mario would achieve during his career.

The funny thing about Link is he’s normally a quiet character. He doesn’t say anything aside from the animated show and CD-i games. When he does say something, it’s meme-worthy and good for a laugh or two.

Now I sincerely doubt that Shea Theodore will say something as funny as this. However, he’s been a focal point of the Vegas Golden Knights offensively. He has 27 assists (tied for 20th in the NHL) with 12 coming on the power play. The newly-extended defenseman is on pace for 57 assists, which would be a career-high. Sure, Mark Stone might get top billing in this scenario. However, Theodore would make for an excellent No. 2.
