According to reports from AFP, footage captured on a mobile phone depicts former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson leaning over a seat and delivering a series of blows to another man, who is said to have sustained bruises and bleeding in the incident that occurred on April 20th.
The incident allegedly occurred during a flight to Florida, where Tyson was reportedly initially friendly towards a passenger and their companion before reacting negatively to what was described as relentless provocation. The situation escalated as the individual continued to insult the 55-year-old boxing legend.
“Tyson had had enough of the guy behind him… When the guy stopped talking, that’s when witnesses say Tyson began landing several punches to the man’s face,” TMZ reported. Tyson was said to have disembarked the airplane before it took off, with no comments provided by US police, JetBlue airlines, or representatives of the former boxer regarding the incident.
While Tyson is renowned for his boxing prowess, he has also been associated with unconventional behavior, including biting a portion of Evander Holyfield’s ear off during a 1997 match, as well as legal troubles involving accusations of sexual assault and drug addiction. The incident on the airplane adds another layer to Tyson’s controversial legacy, raising questions about his conduct outside the ring and the repercussions of his actions.
