After a heated press conference this past Thursday at AT&T Stadium for his fight against Mike Tyson, Jake Paul appears to have faced an even more dire situation.
Paul posted a video on Instagram saying that his private jet was struck by lightning during his flight home from Arlington, Texas.
Paul and Tyson were promoting their July 20th fight, which will be the first combat sports event streamed live on Netflix. It was the second press conference of the week after an event on Monday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Monday’s presser was a cordial affair, for the most part. Tyson gave a candid assessment of how he’s feeling during training by revealing, “I’m doing great but my body is s–t right now, I’m sore, I’m really sore.” Paul didn’t go too far with his trash talk, simply saying that he believes he hits harder than the former heavyweight champion.
However, tensions were high during Thursday’s press conference. Paul was engaging with a hostile crowd at AT&T Stadium throughout, and during a back-and-forth with the fans in attendance he declared he plans to “knock this old man the f–k out.” Tyson also threw some shots at the YouTuber, saying, “I’m going to f–k Jake up.”
The fight between Paul and Tyson will feature the largest age gap in professional boxing history, as the legendary heavyweight will be 58 years old when he steps into the ring against the 27-year-old Paul. The fight will be contested over eight two-minute rounds as opposed to the customary 10 three-minute rounds, but the result will count toward both of their professional records.
