John Fury, the father of heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, has revealed in a candid interview that he has severed ties with some family members due to ‘backstabbing and deceit.’ Known as the patriarch of the Fury family, John has had to make some tough decisions to protect himself and his values.

In a recent interview with the Manchester Evening News, John Fury, 59, opened up about the internal conflicts that have led him to cut off certain unnamed family members. Despite his prominent role in guiding the careers of his sons Tyson and Tommy, the elder Fury has found himself distanced from parts of his family.

“Today we’re in a different world. Time has moved on. I’ve moved on. I’m an old man now,” John reflected. “I’ve learned better since, but back in the day, we all wanted to be survivors and winners. There’s always a cost. It’s documented. It’s cost me a lot of jail time, a lot of ill feelings, a lot of non-talking.”

John candidly spoke about his decision to prioritize his peace over maintaining toxic relationships. “There’s members of my family I’m never going to speak to ever again, through the life I’ve led, through the life they’ve led. The deceit, the backstabbing, listening to too many people that don’t know what they’re talking about,” he explained.

“I’m guilty of that as well. So are they. But I’m a man who likes my own company. I’ve decided now that at this stage of the game, I’m a one-horse race. I’m out on my own. I don’t bother nobody because the world has passed me by now.”
Despite the painful revelations, John insists he remains a family man at heart. He acknowledges the complexities of his relationships but chooses to live a simpler, more solitary life. Even with his son Tyson Fury’s high-profile boxing career, John stays grounded.
“I’m out with the horse and buggy and people don’t believe you anyway because the people who believed in me, they’re long gone,” he said. “They’re long gone. You know, you can ask certain people up and down who know John Fury in the Manchester area.”
John Fury’s commitment to living modestly contrasts sharply with the glitz and glamour often associated with his son’s career. Tyson Fury recently lost his WBC heavyweight title and unbeaten record to Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, yet John continues to focus on a life that aligns with his personal values.
John Fury’s decision to distance himself from certain family members underscores the emotional toll of maintaining integrity and peace. His journey reflects the often complicated dynamics of family relationships, especially under the public eye. As the Fury family continues to make headlines in the boxing world, John Fury’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the personal battles fought behind the scenes.
