Tyson Fury reveals his full scorecard for Oleksandr Usyk fight and insists he beat Ukrainian comfortably after watching fight back

The Gypsy King, Tyson Fury, experienced his first career defeat last month at the hands of Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, losing his WBC belt and missing the chance to become the undisputed heavyweight world champion.

Usyk almost stopped Fury in the ninth round, scoring a crucial knockdown that proved vital in the final decision. Ultimately, Usyk won on points, with two of the three judges favoring him. Judge Manuel Oliver Palomo scored the fight 115-112 for Usyk, indicating he won seven rounds to Fury’s five. Judge Mike Fitzgerald scored it 114-113 for Usyk, with both fighters winning six rounds each, but the knockdown round tipping the scales in Usyk’s favor. Judge Craig Metcalfe scored the fight 114-113 for Fury, meaning he saw Fury winning seven rounds to Usyk’s five.

Despite the split decision, Fury remains adamant that he won the fight. Speaking on his Furocity YouTube channel, Fury said, “I’ve watched the fight back lots of times and still got the same answer – I thought I won the fight. Usyk knows he didn’t beat me… I thought I boxed the head right off him for most of the rounds.”

Fury acknowledged that Usyk landed a good punch in the eighth round, busted his nose, and had a strong ninth round with a 10-8 score. He also gave Usyk the tenth round but disputed the other rounds, scoring the fight 116-111 in his favor, meaning he believed he won nine rounds to Usyk’s three.

Immediately after the fight, Fury expressed his disagreement with the scorecards. “I believe I won that fight. I believe he won a few of the rounds but I won the majority of them,” he said. “What can you do? It’s one of the decisions in boxing. We both put on a good fight. Best we could do.”
