Tyson Fury is expected to cut ties with his father John Fury before the Usyk rematch

Carl Froch has stirred the pot by suggesting that Tyson Fury should exclude his father, John Fury, from his training camp ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk later this year. Froch believes that John’s involvement was detrimental to Tyson’s performance in their previous bout in Saudi Arabia, where Usyk emerged victorious by split decision, maintaining his unbeaten professional record.

John Fury has faced criticism for his conduct during the fight, including giving instructions to his son from ringside. Froch argues that this interference could have negatively impacted Tyson’s focus and performance. “John Fury interfering in Tyson’s corner could have been the difference between winning and losing,” Froch told Lord Ping. “His coach SugarHill Steward knows everything about the game and was trying to give him instructions. How can Tyson focus when he’s got John Fury shouting down his ear?”

Froch further commented that John’s presence in the camp was more of a distraction than a benefit. “When you’ve got a bad egg in the camp, you have to get rid of it. John needs to give his son a wide berth because he was a negative distraction. He was not a positive addition to that camp.”

Froch even suggested that Tyson should firmly tell his father to step aside if he wants a real chance at victory in the rematch. “If Tyson is serious about beating Usyk in the rematch, he needs to tell his dad to back off.”

Tyson Fury was visibly frustrated with the judges’ decision in their last fight and believed he had done enough to win. However, punch statistics showed Usyk outlanded him, supporting the decision. Despite the setback, Fury remains determined and looks forward to the rematch, which is targeted for October.

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed that the rematch will happen and expressed optimism about the bout. “There will be a rematch,” Warren said. “I think it will be better than the original fight. They both know each other now and will use what they’ve learned to their advantage.”

As Fury prepares for another showdown with Usyk, the decision to involve or exclude his father could be a pivotal factor in his quest to reclaim the heavyweight titles.
