Following his recent defeat to Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury’s uncle and former trainer, Peter Fury, has suggested that the 35-year-old should consider dismissing some members of his team “on the spot.” Fury’s loss to Usyk occurred earlier this month in Saudi Arabia.
Peter Fury emphasized the need for clarity and precision in the corner, asserting that there should ideally be only one individual providing instructions. He criticized the presence of multiple voices and emotional responses during the fight, deeming the game plan as “wrong.”
In an interview with October Red, Peter Fury remarked, “There should only be one man in the corner, there shouldn’t be three or four. Some are too emotional in the corner and some are giving the wrong advice.” He highlighted the importance of clear communication and precise instructions, citing coach Sugar Hill Steward as the one who provided sensible guidance during the bout.
