In 2016, in the last days of Obama’s second term, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) concluded that Russia tried to intervene the US election with the trend of supporting Mr. Trump to win. The US government then expelled a series of Russian diplomats and imposed sanctions on Moscow.

After that, Gabbard continued to post a series of articles on social networks, some hinting that she had pushed the US Department of Justice to prosecute Mr. Obama. Obama’s spokesman refused the allegations, saying they were “so absurd that they were forced to speak.”
