Retirement isn’t a topic Travis Kelce, the standout tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, avoids. However, he’s resolute that his departure from the NFL isn’t imminent, and he stresses that this decision isn’t influenced by his relationship with global music icon Taylor Swift. Kelce reaffirmed his stance on retirement during a conversation with his brother Jason Kelce on the June 5 episode of their joint podcast, New Heights. Before Travis’s comments on retirement, Jason, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, shared his struggles adjusting to a life without football after officially retiring from the sport in March.
“You’ll understand once you’re out, Trav,” he advised his younger brother. “Once it’s all said and done.”
“That’s not happening,” firmly declared Travis, a three-time Super Bowl champion. “No way, not after hearing that, man. That’s not in my plans.”
Travis referred to Jason’s emotional retirement announcement, which evoked strong reactions from fans and colleagues alike, as he publicly announced his departure from the Eagles amid widespread speculation.
