Tommy Fury Admits Potential Boxing Match With Mike Tyson As Rumours Grow Of $30 Million Prize

Tommy Fury has performed a dramatic U-turn on his stance about fighting Mike Tyson, admitting he would face the 58-year-old boxing legend if offered £50million.

The British boxer previously criticised Jake Paul for taking on the ageing former heavyweight champion in their controversial bout in November last year.

Fury had stated in 2024 that he would never fight Tyson, insisting “you have to have some respect about you I think.”

However, speaking on Eddie Hall’s The Good, The Bad & The Beast podcast, Fury revealed his change of heart about potentially facing a boxer who would be 60 by the time any such fight could materialise.

When asked whether he would fight Tyson, Fury told the podcast: “Listen, if someone is offering you £50 million, what are you going to do?

“Listen, everybody back home can say what they want… if someone is coming at you with £50 million, you are going to fight a 60-year-old.”

This marks a stark contrast to his position last year when he said: “Would I get in the ring with Mike Tyson if I was offered it tomorrow? No. You have to have some respect about you I think.”

The 26-year-old’s reversal comes after witnessing the commercial success of the Paul-Tyson bout.

Tyson reportedly earned a guaranteed $20 million (£15.8 million) for the November clash, whilst Paul secured $40 million (£31.4 million). The fight saw Paul win on points against a Tyson who appeared far past his prime.

The 58-year-old has since indicated he won’t return to boxing, with his son Amir revealing his stepmother said “Mike is done.”

Tyson admitted he couldn’t remember much of the fight, telling Fox Sports Radio: “I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out.”

Despite this, Fury remains confident about his own abilities against Paul, stating: “I know if I fought him now, I would do the same thing to him.”

Fury hinted at a potential rematch with Paul within the next year, telling the podcast: “I think the Jake Paul fight. That is always going to be there because there is a lot of history with that fight. It makes sense for both parties.”

The Briton, who defeated Paul on a split decision in Saudi Arabia in 2023, added: “There is not a doubt in my mind where I go into the ring with Jake Paul and I think he beats me.”
