The tomb of King Tutankhamun, discovered in 1922 by archaeologist Howard Carter, is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time. Upon entering the tomb, one is overwhelmed by the splendor and wealth of a young king.

A giant quartzite sarcophagus:

  • King Tutankhamun’s burial chamber included an impressive quartzite sarcophagus, taking up almost the entire area with its striking measurements: 5.08 meters in length, 3.28 meters in width and 2.75 meters in height.

Three magnificent coffins:

  • Inside the sarcophagus were three coffins, each more remarkable than the next.
  • The two exteriors were made from cedar wood and adorned with gold, each measuring 224 centimeters in length.
  • The middle coffin sparkled with encrusted gems.
  • The real highlight was the innermost coffin, made entirely of solid gold and weighing 110 kilograms.

King Tutankhamun: The Golden King:

  • Inside this golden coffin was the mummified pharaoh, whose body was wrapped in linen filled with more than 150 protective amulets and beautiful jewelry.
  • A golden crown rested on her head, delicate gold caps adorned her fingers and toes, and a pair of ornately designed gold sandals graced her feet – representing eternal royalty in the afterlife.

The tomb of King Tutankhamun is not only an archaeological treasure but also a testament to the wealth, power, and beliefs of ancient Egypt.
