The rematch of Devin Haney Vs. Ryan Garcia will still be acting normally despite Ryan’s PED issues

Devin Haney’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, remains interested in a rematch between Haney and Ryan Garcia, even with the PED controversy that clouded their last fight in April.

Initially, Hearn had called for a lifetime ban for Garcia (25-1, 20 KOs) if it was proven that he intentionally used PEDs. However, Hearn has since changed his stance and now supports a rematch with Haney (31-1, 15 KOs). It seems Hearn recognizes that a fight with Garcia could be Haney’s biggest payday.

Moreover, Hearn might be aware that Haney’s time as a top fighter is limited. This rematch could be Haney’s last opportunity for a significant payday before his status as a championship-level fighter diminishes.

“There could be a suspension of six months to a year,” Hearn told Fight Hub TV regarding the potential length of Garcia’s suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission for his positive PED test for Ostarine. “If it’s proven that he intentionally cheated, it could be two years or more.”

Hearn believes that Garcia will receive a suspension of six to twelve months but acknowledges that it could extend to 2-3 years if intentional use is proven. Proving intentional use, however, remains challenging without direct evidence.

Despite the controversy, Hearn emphasized the importance of a rematch. “I think it’s a massive fight,” he said. He noted that although Haney might be reluctant due to his anger over the PED issue, Garcia remains a significant asset to boxing.
