Kylian Mbappe, the star forward and captain of the French national team since March 2023, missed the crucial training session before France’s match against Canada, raising concerns about his fitness. Newly transferred to Real Madrid, Mbappe is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming EURO 2024, with France’s opening match scheduled for Monday, June 17.
Mbappe’s absence from Saturday’s training sparked rumors of a potential injury. Sources indicate that the forward might be dealing with muscle issues, adding to the headaches for coach Didier Deschamps, who is already grappling with fitness problems among key players like Kingsley Coman, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Adrien Rabiot.
In their final friendly before EURO 2024, France was held to a disappointing 0-0 draw against Canada. Mbappe only entered the pitch in the 74th minute.
However, journalist Giovanni Castaldi from L’Equipe has reassured fans about Mbappe’s condition. He reported that the 25-year-old is dealing with a back issue and was given a rest to prevent further complications before the match against Canada. Despite this precaution, there are no doubts about Mbappe’s availability for France’s opening EURO 2024 group stage match against Austria.
Mbappe’s participation in the tournament comes just weeks after confirming his move to Real Madrid on a free transfer. On his personal social media, Mbappe expressed his joy: “A dream come true. Extremely happy and proud to join my dream club, Real Madrid.”
“No one can understand how excited I am right now. I can’t wait to meet you, Madridistas, and thank you for the incredible support. Hala Madrid!”
