The midfield star of the German national team has requested to withdraw Emre Can has been called up as a replacement.

Aleksandar Pavlovic, the young star from Bayern Munich, has had to withdraw from Euro 2024, and the German national team has swiftly called up Emre Can as a replacement.

The German national team will be without young talent Aleksandar Pavlovic for Euro 2024 after the 20-year-old player suffered a relapse of tonsillitis just three days before their opening match against Scotland. This setback means the Bayern star will miss the opportunity to compete in the Euro tournament on home soil.

Head coach Julian Nagelsmann quickly reacted by bringing Dortmund captain Emre Can into the squad. Can played a crucial role in helping Dortmund reach the Champions League final last season. Nagelsmann considers Emre Can an ideal replacement for Pavlovic in the midfield.

Explaining this decision, Nagelsmann said: “We wanted an additional number 6 in the squad, and we decided to go with Emre Can. He is very excited and said he is ready to join the team. We wanted a player in the squad who has played many matches and knows how to handle pressure. Emre Can fits these criteria, and now we can utilize him.”

Pavlovic’s absence is unfortunate, as he had just completed a breakthrough season at Bayern Munich under the guidance of Thomas Tuchel. The 20-year-old star appeared in 19 Bundesliga matches, winning 15 of them. Pavlovic’s team also scored 54 goals in those games.

Pavlovic missed 15 Bundesliga matches last season, and his impact on the midfield was evident as Bayern only won 8 of those matches and conceded 14 goals.
