Just over a month out from his huge main event title fight at UFC 317, Ilia Topuria has made a major change to his training camp.

Last week, UFC boss Dana White shockingly announced that Islam Makhachev has vacated his lightweight title in pursuit of a welterweight title shot against Jack Della Maddalena.
And with that, the UFC 317 main event was finally revealed, as Ilia Topuria takes on Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title.
With ‘El Matador’ just over a month from finally fighting for the 155lb title, he has claimed that he will not give Makhachev an immediate title shot if the Russian decides to move back down in weight.

Ilia Topuria splits from lifelong coaches ahead of UFC 317
With UFC 317 scheduled to take place on June 28, Topuria and Oliveira are likely beginning their camps now and starting to ramp things up ahead of their clash.
However, it was revealed on Monday that Topuria has split from his coaches, Agustin and Jorge Climent, ahead of his lightweight title fight.
The two brothers run Climent Club in Alicante, Spain, where ‘El Matador’ and his brother Aleksandre Topuria have trained since the beginning of their MMA journeys.
Last year following his title success, the Spaniard moved to Madrid from Alicante, which has seemingly caused the rift in his training.
“Both sides live in different cities, and their multiple professional projects prevent them from collaborating as they once did,” the MARCA report noted.
Topuria went on to thank his lifetime coaches, saying: “We thank them for all these years of mutual learning and growth, and they wholeheartedly wish them all the best in all their projects.”
The 28-year-old’s team is now expected to be made up of his brother, Aleksandre, Jesus Gallo, Javi Climent (no relation to the Climent brothers), Mani Tavanaei and Mathias Ribeiro.
Aleksandre Topuria outlines perfect scenario for Ilia Topuria
Although the 28-year-old won’t officially be classed as a double champion if he beats ‘Do Bronx’ at UFC 317, he will still join an elite group of fighters to win a title in two different weight classes.
Ahead of his huge task, Topuria has already hinted at the possibility of moving up to welterweight in the future to make history as the first-ever fighter to win a title in three different weight classes.
“The perfect scenario would be for Ilia to win, for Islam to win in the welterweight division, and then for Ilia to fight for a third belt. Historic,” Aleksandre told Enrique Gimeno MMA.
