Shocking F1 World: FIA fully turns against McLaren after a series of statements from other drivers and teams

The F1 world has been rocked by controversy as the FIA comes under intense pressure to take action against McLaren following a series of complaints from rival teams, including Red Bull and Ferrari. At the center of the dispute is McLaren’s rear wing design, which has sparked debates about its legality. Top drivers like Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Sergio “Checo” Pérez have all weighed in, expressing their dissatisfaction with the design, and raising concerns about its compliance with FIA regulations.

Max Verstappen, one of the most vocal critics, commented on the situation after footage of the rear wing moving during high-speed runs circulated widely on social media. “I’ve watched the video, and that’s the good side of social media, right? Everyone’s ready with videos. Clearly, it moved when the car was at high speed. Whether the design is smart or not, it’s up to the FIA to decide if it’s legal. This wasn’t the first time it was used; Baku wasn’t the first,” Verstappen said. He emphasized the importance of clarifying what is allowed, not just for rear wings but also for front wings, particularly regarding how much flexibility is permissible.

Charles Leclerc, while more reserved in his comments, also hinted at the controversy. “I think Fred [Vasseur] will provide more details on this, but from what I understand, at the very least, it’s controversial. I’ll leave it there and let Fred comment further,” said Leclerc, leaving the issue open for further discussion from Ferrari’s team principal.

Sergio Pérez was more direct in his criticism of McLaren’s car, calling it outright illegal. “It’s clearly outside the regulations. It’s an illegal car. But it seems like it’s still being allowed. I’m quite surprised,” Pérez remarked, echoing concerns that McLaren’s advantage could be against the spirit of fair competition.

The FIA has now found itself in a position where it must address these complaints, with many drivers and teams pushing for a detailed investigation into the legality of McLaren’s car. The rear wing in question has been used before, most notably in Baku, but has flown under the radar until now, with more eyes on its performance and movement at high speeds.

With Red Bull, Ferrari, and other teams raising these concerns, the FIA will likely conduct a deeper analysis of McLaren’s design. The outcome could lead to changes or clarifications in the technical regulations to prevent any ambiguities regarding the flexibility and aerodynamic behavior of both rear and front wings.

As the drama unfolds, F1 fans and teams alike are eagerly awaiting the FIA’s next move. If McLaren is found in breach of the rules, the consequences could be severe, affecting their current season and potentially reshaping the competitive landscape in Formula 1.
