“SHE’S BACK” Amanda Balionis will make comeback at The Masters after missing Rory McIlroy win

Amanda Balionis will be back on the air at The Masters next month after the CBS reporter enjoyed a break of several weeks off.

Balionis and the rest of the CBS crew have not covered the PGA Tour since the Genesis Invitational last month, with NBC holding the broadcast rights for the Mexico Open, Cognizant Classic, Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, Valspar Championship, and the Texas Children’s Houston Open.

NBC will also broadcast next week’s Valero Texas Open at TPC San Antonio before the torch is passed back to CBS for a tradition like no other, The 2025 Masters at Augusta National.

Balionis – who doubles as a sideline reporter on CBS’s NFL coverage – and her colleagues have had to watch a fascinating few weeks on the PGA Tour while NBC has been on the ground, with Rory McIlroy claiming his second victory of the season at The Players, while Russell Henley secured a breakthrough victory on the big stage at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

McIlroy’s win at TPC Sawgrass was particularly captivating, overcoming J.J. Spaun in a three-hole Monday playoff after the final round was hit by bad weather. It was McIlroy’s second victory at The Players, emboldening his hopes that his agonizing 10-year major drought will finally end this year.

But Balionis, Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman and co. will be back on our screens on April 12 for third and fourth-round coverage from Augusta. The first two rounds will be screened live on ESPN.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler heads to Augusta as the reigning champion and the favorite to win the green jacket again, but McIlroy has shown huge signs of promise. He has won twice stateside before the end of March for the first time in his career, winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as well as The Players.

The Northern Irishman has risen to No. 2 in the world rankings as a result of his excellent form, and he appears better prepared for the challenge of Augusta National than ever before as he chases the elusive missing piece of the career grand slam.

LIV Golf trio Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm will also fancy their chances of adding to their major championship collections. DeChambeau won his second U.S. Open title last year and was runner-up in the PGA Championship, while Rahm is LIV’s reigning individual champion and knows what it takes to get his hands on the green jacket after winning in 2023.

Koepka, too, is a big threat heading into the tournament. The five-time major champion has the knack of finding another gear when the biggest tournaments arrive.
