Boxer Jake Paul has faced stinging criticism from former world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew after his thrilling bout with boxing legend Mike Tyson in Texas. Although Paul won the bout, Bellew suggested that the type of gloves Paul used gave him an unfair advantage over the 58-year-old Tyson.

“Mike’s gloves look heavily padded, while Jake’s are ‘Grant’ gloves designed for power punching. There’s a huge difference in the gloves, and I can tell even watching from bed,” Bellew said in a comment on Twitter.

Bellew expressed his displeasure that the fight took place in the first place, saying: “We are all responsible for this situation! We talk about the fight and watch it. We should stop supporting Paul until he faces someone fit and healthy and not a grandfather! Anyone who supports Paul in boxing should reconsider their position. This is very sad.”

Despite his harsh criticism, Bellew noted that Paul showed Tyson some respect in the ring. “Even though I don’t like that stupid kid, he showed respect to Mike at the end and didn’t go for the knockout. He stepped back and gave him a chance to continue, which is a credit to him,” he said.

After the fight, the Texas Boxing Commission imposed a mandatory rest period on both Paul and Tyson since the fight was classified as a professional bout. According to the regulations, each boxer must rest three days for each round, which means they will have to rest for 24 days.

Despite the criticism, Paul announced that he plans to face boxer Canelo Alvarez in his next fight, while Tyson revealed his desire to face Paul’s brother, Logan.
