Shakur Stevenson doesn’t lack confidence ahead of his clash with Vasiliy Lomachenko, declaring that it will be “the easiest fight of my life”

Shakur Stevenson is not short of confidence – that’s apparent from his view on a fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko.

According to Compubox, the 27-year-old’s opponents land the least punches per round out of all active fighters at just 5.2. It has been evident in his last two performances, which have been criticised as dull by many fans but were undoubtedly easy work for Stevenson.

Now WBC Lightweight world champion after winning belts at both feather and super-featherweight, the Newark native says he will show his true skill when matched with the best in the world.

One man who can be considered as such is Lomachenko, a fight Shakur has been vocal about for some time now but failed to land.

Stevenson believes he has been ducked by the elite Ukrainian, who is in the final stages of an impressive career, and that, according to him, is because it would be easy work.

“N***a that would be the easiest night of my life. Like taking candy from a baby. He know that which is why he chose Kambosos. He one of the greats tho I’ll give him that respect.”

Shakur refers to Lomachenko’s last bout against former unified champion George Kambosos for the vacant IBF belt. Lomachenko won it via stoppage in the eleventh, picking up the title and putting himself in a position for a unification bout.

That looks likely to come against Gervonta Davis rather than Stevenson, who could defend his belt against William Zepeda or Kambosos himself instead.

Lomachenko is expected to fly to the US soon to continue talks with ‘Tank’s team, and fans will want the winner to face Shakur in early 2025.
