**Serena Williams Reveals the Vital Importance of Self-Care Amidst a Busy Life**
Taking care of yourself is crucial for everyone, not just athletes. Serena Williams, a 23-time Grand Slam champion, understands this well. Balancing work commitments and family life, she often finds it challenging to carve out time for herself.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Williams shared her recent experience during a trip to Paris, where a friend gifted her a spa day. “On my last trip to Paris, a girlfriend of mine treated me to a spa day. She knows that after two babies, I started feeling self-conscious about my belly. I just had to post this video she shot. The results were amazing. I can see progress with my skin getting back to normal and my confidence returning,” she wrote.
Williams emphasized the importance of self-care, even though she feels guilty about spending time away from her children. “Being able to take time for myself is something I’ve always struggled with. I’ve finally started to feel good about taking an hour (during nap time) away from my kids and working on doing something for myself. I always feel guilty about leaving them, but I also have to remind myself to take care of myself, it will only help me take better care of them,” she added.
In an interview with ET, Serena reflected on her life in the spotlight and her journey to self-discovery off the court. “I was so intense on the court, always wanting to be perfect, which obviously isn’t possible. If I could go back, I would tell myself to breathe deeply and relax more. The journey has been incredible, but I was very young when I started playing tennis on the WTA Tour and became a professional player. I don’t know if this precociousness changed me or shaped me as a person,” she explained.
Now, Serena is focused on understanding who she truly is away from the cameras. “I have been in the spotlight 24/7 for 27 years. It’s different now, but the time has come to understand how all this has affected me. Most people only see the victories in a Grand Slam tournament, the finals, but they don’t focus on the training and everything behind it. All that intensity I’ve always put forth is now directed at my daughters,” she said.
Williams continues to share her self-care journey and encourages others to prioritize their well-being. “I will always love my birthing scars, but I just wanted to say thanks to my friend Mia and Nat for letting me know it’s okay to take time for myself away from work and kids,” she concluded. She invites her followers to share their self-care routines and challenges, fostering a community of support and self-love.
In a world where everyone is juggling multiple responsibilities, Serena Williams’ message resonates deeply: taking care of yourself is not just a luxury but a necessity.
