“SAUDI DRAMA” Ben Whittaker Rushed To Hospital With Freak Injury As Both Fighters Fall Over Top Rope Forcing Fight To Be Stopped

In a shocking turn of events, British boxer Ben Whittaker found himself hospitalized and in a wheelchair after a freak injury during his bout against Liam Cameron in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The dramatic incident occurred in the fifth round when both fighters tumbled over the top rope during a clinch, a scene more reminiscent of WWE than a professional boxing match.

Cameron, pushing his light heavyweight opponent toward the corner of the ring, accidentally sent them both tumbling out. While Cameron quickly recovered and returned to the ring, Whittaker, who injured his right leg in the fall, was unable to continue despite medical attention. The 2020 Olympic silver medalist was later transported to the hospital, leaving his undefeated record hanging in the balance.

At the time of the incident, the judges’ scorecards were split: 58-57 for Whittaker, 58-57 for Cameron, and 58-58, resulting in a technical draw. Cameron, who believed he was on course for a major upset, was left frustrated by the outcome.

After the fight, Cameron expressed his disappointment: “He [Whittaker] had nothing left by round two. I definitely beat him. I don’t get a fair share in fights, and I tried my best to win today. I think I deserved the win.” When asked if he thought Whittaker was looking for a way out, Cameron responded, “Yeah, 100%. You can see it on camera.”

The bout had been a tense affair from the start. Whittaker, known as “The Surgeon,” had tried to break through Cameron’s defense with powerful shots, backing him onto the ropes in the early rounds. But Cameron weathered the storm, holding his own and even taunting Whittaker by sticking his tongue out after absorbing some of his punches.

Whittaker enjoyed some success in the third round with a signature uppercut, but Cameron quickly regained control. In the fourth round, Whittaker struggled, absorbing several punches while Cameron smiled through the onslaught.

The fight took a controversial turn in the fifth round when Whittaker repeatedly led with his head and hit low, moves that referee Victor Loughlin chose not to penalize, much to Cameron’s frustration.

The bizarre ending has left the boxing world buzzing with debate, as Cameron continues to feel robbed of a win, while Whittaker now faces an uncertain recovery after the injury.
