Ryan Garcia Faces Disciplinary Action from New York State Athletic Commission for Unprofessional Conduct in Devin Haney Bout

In a recent development, boxing superstar Ryan Garcia has been officially sanctioned by the New York State Athletic Commission for his conduct during the match against Devin Haney.

Following his victory over the WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney last month, Ryan Garcia came under investigation on suspicion of doping. Blood test results, returned shortly thereafter, revealed the presence of the muscle growth substance Ostarine, putting Garcia’s win at risk.

Despite vigorous efforts by Garcia and his representation, Golden Boy Promotions, to contest the findings, the situation reached a critical point when his second sample also tested positive for the same substance.

Consequently, “KingRy” has been officially sanctioned by the New York State Athletic Commission with the following penalties: A suspension of at least one year; Forfeiture of his official contractual earnings amounting to $1.1 million (this sum will be redirected to Golden Boy Promotions, with Devin Haney potentially receiving a portion); A fine of $10,000 (the state’s maximum penalty).

Following the official announcement, Ryan Garcia expressed strong opposition and threatened to quit boxing for the UFC. Venting on X (formerly Twitter), the current biggest star in boxing wrote: “Look at this crying baby (Haney), he got what he wanted… I never cheated on you guys, but they still banned me for a year. Boxing sucks, I’m moving to UFC.”

Meanwhile, Devin Haney, the American boxer, promptly thanked the WBC for restoring justice: “Thank you for doing the right thing and making the right decision. I don’t understand why Golden Boy gets the money as if they took any punches. They haven’t even dared to clarify this situation.”

Amidst the conflict between the two sides, many believe this is a tough decision for Ryan Garcia, and Lomachenko fans have started to demand justice for the champion, seeing Haney’s successful appeal.

However, if the allegations of Ryan Garcia using banned substances prove true, this decision is entirely justified, as it is crucial to timely prevent any form of cheating in sports by fighters, once and for all.
