At Genesis Invitational, when asked about his favorite stick, Mcilroy thought for a long time before giving the answer:TaylorMade M2 driver– A model he used in the middle to the end of 2017.
“I still look at it in my collection of sticks and think ‘I wish I could still use you.’ Perhaps it is now banned.”Mcilroy joked.
According to the USGA device list (United States Golf Association), M2 is still recognized as valid and in accordance with the rules of USGA and R&A. This means it can still be used in professional tournaments.
Taylormade first introduced the M1 and M2 series in 2016, then launched the second version in 2017. Throughout his history, hundreds of professional golfers used these sticks in different times of the season.
Earlier, Mcilroy used Nike sticks, but when the company announced its stopping to produce golf clubs in 2016, he signed a contract with Taylormade in 2017. Since then, he used the entire set of Taylormade sticks. With the Taylormade M2 stick in 2017, Mcilroy led the shading distance with a huge number of 319.7 yard. This is his farthest achievement until the 2021-22 season, when he raised this number to 321.3 yard.
