Returning to action after missing two games, Ronaldo put on a spectacular show in Portugal’s final friendly match before the EURO 2024 finals. After Joao Felix opened the scoring in the first half, Ronaldo shone for the European Selecao in the second half.
In the 50th minute, Ronaldo dribbled decisively past an Irish defender before launching a beautiful left-footed shot to make it 2-0. This was Ronaldo’s 129th goal for the national team, officially surpassing the legendary Ali Daei of Iran to become the all-time top scorer at the international level.

But Ronaldo wasn’t done yet. Just 10 minutes later, he completed his double with a close-range finish, sealing a 3-0 win for Portugal. This marked his 130th goal for the national team, an incredible milestone.
With his double against Ireland, Ronaldo also became the first player in history to score for his national team in 21 consecutive years, dating back to 2004. This is a testament to CR7’s endurance and class throughout his illustrious career.
The victory over Ireland and Ronaldo’s impressive performance provide the perfect morale boost for Portugal ahead of the EURO 2024 finals. At the tournament in Germany, Ronaldo and his teammates will face the Czech Republic, Turkey, and Georgia in their group.
