Kevin Owens trolled Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes today on social media. The former Universal Champion brutally attacked The American Nightmare following Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Rhodes defeated Owens at Saturday Night’s Main Event to retain his title. Following the match, The Prizefighter unleashed a brutal attack on Rhodes and hit him with a Package Piledriver. The 40-year-old took to social media to share a promotional graphic of the company’s upcoming holiday tour.

He replaced Rhodes’ face with his own on the graphic and claimed he was the true WWE Champion, as seen in his post below:

“I am proud to officially announce that I will be competing in my first matches as your new, true WWE Champion on this year’s Holiday loop (that’s a term people in “the business” use that refers to a string of consecutive shows in different cities over a short period of time) starting in Jacksonville on the 26th, followed by 3 more shows in Florida and then one in Detroit for some reason. Be there to witness history!” he wrote.

Rhodes was sent to a local hospital in an ambulance following the attack by Owens at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. The latter then got into a shoving match with Triple H on the entrance ramp.

Wrestling legend Vince Russo took WWE to task for not airing Kevin Owens’ attack on Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Kevin Owens’ attack took place after the show and was posted on social media. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Legion of RAW show, Russo claimed that the show was a disappointment over the weekend. The veteran added that the attack on Rhodes should have been shown on air as it was the best part of the show:

“So bro, we have Saturday Night’s Main Event, which was a total total disappointment. No way they got new viewers from that show. They go off the air without showing the best part, which was Kevin Owens turning on Cody Rhodes. That wasn’t even on the main show. He attacked him, got heat on him after the match. The show ended with Cody Rhodes up with a period at the end of the sentence and all these shenanigans took place on social media,” he said. [From 11:13 onwards]
