Real Madrid has attempted to make a splash in the transfer market with a proposal that has already been hailed by the press as “the swap of the century.” The club reportedly offered Ferland Mendy, its current left-back, plus a fee of €60 million to convince Paris Saint-Germain to let Nuno Mendes, considered one of the best left-backs in the world, leave.

The offer, considered a multi-million dollar deal, was intended to strengthen one of the key positions for Real Madrid players ahead of next season. Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez sees Mendes as a player capable of dominating the left flank for years, providing defensive solidity and offensive presence.

However, according to sources close to the Parisian club, president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi responded in a completely unexpected way. Not only did he reject the offer, but he also reportedly declared Nuno Mendes “untransferable,” making it clear that the young Portuguese player is a key player in PSG’s long-term project.

This firm response surprised not only Real Madrid’s board, but also European analysts, who thought that PSG, after several recent large-scale investments, would be willing to negotiate significant sales to balance its books. Instead, Al-Khelaifi seems determined to keep Mendes at all costs, especially to avoid strengthening a direct rival like the Madrid club.
Although the deal has been ruled out for the time being, speculation about a possible clash between the two giants continues. Real Madrid could return with a higher offer, while PSG maintains an inflexible stance: its young stars are not for sale
