Logan Paul has taken legal action against Ryan Garcia, stepping into a different kind of ring—the legal one. The 29-year-old influencer and professional wrestler announced that his beverage company, Prime Hydration, is suing Garcia, 25, for defamation. The lawsuit was revealed on Thursday, May 23, with Paul sharing a scan of the legal filing on his Instagram.
In his post, Paul expressed frustration over having to counter “ridiculous claims” about his hydration drink, suggesting that Prime is the target of a smear campaign. “I’ve had to spend the last couple months dismantling ridiculous claims about @drinkprime, and it’s become obvious PRIME is under attack. Why?” Paul queried in his caption.
The legal documents allege that Garcia, a professional boxer, has been using his platform to disparage Prime Hydration, leveraging controversy to boost his own profile and personal brand. “Garcia has a history of stirring up controversy to promote his fights and personal brand, including by attacking other high-profile individuals and brands. Although Garcia was once on good terms with Prime, as the company grew, he embarked on a campaign of spreading lies about Prime, its hydration drink, and one of Prime’s owners, Logan Paul,” the filing stated.
Garcia’s negative remarks about Prime were notably shared on X (formerly Twitter), where he made disparaging comments about the beverage’s quality. “Prime is so s**t. Prime is so nasty it makes fish cry,” he tweeted, followed by, “Drinking that prime f**king you up.”
In response, Logan Paul listed reasons why he believes his brand has been targeted: competition fears, clout chasing, and personal dislike towards him and fellow boxer and influencer KSI. He emphasized that those who do not like Prime should simply not consume it, rather than spreading falsehoods.
Furthermore, Paul vowed to defend Prime’s reputation vigorously. “Today we begin to hold those accountable who’ve damaged our brand for attention while we correct the narrative. We’re here to stay and will continue to change the world of hydration with bold flavors and creative innovation,” he stated.
To add more drama to the feud, at the end of his post, Paul also accused Garcia of holding controversial beliefs and using banned substances. “Ryan Garcia thinks the earth is flat,” he noted, before alleging, “Ryan Garcia tested positive for PEDs.”
This lawsuit marks a significant escalation in the ongoing feud between two prominent figures in the sports and entertainment industries, highlighting the complex interplay between personal branding, business interests, and public discourse.
