‘PLEASE DON’T’: Fans Fear For Boxing Legend Who’s Set To Make Return To The Ring Aged 53 And Say ‘This Is Sad’

Fans have voiced their concerns for boxing icon Shane Mosley ahead of his upcoming return to the ring at the age of 53. The American boxing legend, who last fought professionally in 2016, is set to compete in a “Celebrity Boxing” event on September 28. This comeback has raised alarm among his supporters, many of whom are worried about the toll that another fight could take on his health.

Shane Mosley, known for his illustrious career from 1993 to 2016, has an impressive professional boxing record of 61-49-10. He earned titles in three different weight classes—lightweight, welterweight, and light-middleweight—and was widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of his era. Mosley’s achievements in the sport include victories over renowned names such as Ricardo Mayorga and Oscar De La Hoya. He also won several ‘Fighter of the Year’ awards and was crowned the best pound-for-pound boxer three times during his peak years.

However, the latter part of Mosley’s career was marked by defeats to the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, and Canelo Alvarez, leading him to retire from the sport eight years ago. Since then, Mosley has taken on a new role, training YouTuber Jake Paul as part of Paul’s foray into boxing.

Despite his retirement, Mosley is now stepping back into the ring for an exhibition match against boxing coach Bob Kofroth. While the fight is part of the celebrity boxing circuit, Mosley has encouraged fans to tune in, stating, “Make sure you watch my fight on September 28.”

Mosley’s decision to return to boxing has not gone over well with many fans, who expressed concerns about his well-being. One fan remarked, “Wow, Shane Mosley is really slurring his words. There’s no need to be taking punches again at 53.” Another urged him to reconsider, saying, “Please don’t fight, Shane. You’ve got nothing left to prove.” Others described his return to the ring as “sad,” recalling the toll his later fights took on him physically.

In contrast, Mosley’s opponent Bob Kofroth sees the match as an opportunity. Speaking ahead of the fight, Kofroth said, “I feel like my situation is almost like a Rocky story. I came from nothing. A lot of people don’t know anything about me, and I’ve got a huge opportunity.”

As the fight approaches, the boxing community is divided—while some are excited to see Mosley back in the ring, others are worried that the risks may outweigh the rewards for the aging champion.
