Oleksandr Usyk’s teammate, Stanislav Stepchuk, who was headbutted by John Fury, posed with the WBC belt won from Tyson Fury.
Usyk made history in Saudi Arabia by narrowly defeating Fury on the judges’ scorecards, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion in the four-belt era.
Prior to Usyk’s victory, fight week had already been tense, highlighted by Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury, headbutting Stanislav Stepchuk, a member of Usyk’s team.
Despite John Fury’s subsequent apology, Usyk ensured his team had the last laugh by giving Stepchuk the WBC belt he won from Fury and sharing a photo of him holding it on social media.
Fans quickly noticed the symbolic post, with one commenting, “Stanislav got the last laugh,” and another adding, “The guy that beat John Fury without doing anything.”
Stepchuk, who received a minor injury from the headbutt, proudly posed with the belt, which Fury had held for six years.
John Fury expressed his disappointment after the fight, which saw Usyk deliver an impressive performance. Despite being knocked down, Fury managed to survive until the final bell.
Usyk’s former rival, Tony Bellew, believed the referee made an error by not stopping the fight in the ninth round, suggesting Usyk should have been allowed to continue punching.
