OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION🛑 FIA ANNOUNCE PENALTY verdict for Red Bull star after qualifying incident at Bahrain GP👇

FIA Imposes Penalty on Max Verstappen Following Bahrain Grand Prix Incident

In a dramatic turn of events at the Bahrain International Circuit during the 2025 Formula 1 season opener, the FIA has officially announced a penalty for Red Bull star Max Verstappen following an incident in the practice session on Friday. The four-time world champion was found to have breached the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, prompting swift action from the sport’s governing body.

The incident occurred during Free Practice 1 (FP1), when Verstappen was deemed to have unnecessarily impeded another driver while navigating the pit lane exit. According to the FIA’s investigation, Verstappen’s actions violated Article 34.1 of the FIA Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, which prohibits drivers from performing maneuvers that could hinder or endanger other competitors in the pit lane or on track. Specifically, the Red Bull driver overtook a rival in the pit lane without sufficient justification, creating a potentially hazardous situation during a busy practice session.

The stewards’ verdict, released after reviewing video evidence, positioning data, and statements from Verstappen and his team, outlined the breach in detail: “The driver of Car 1 [Max Verstappen] was observed overtaking another competitor in the pit lane while exiting for a practice run. This action contravened the race director’s notes, which explicitly prohibit overtaking in the pit lane unless under exceptional circumstances. The stewards determined that no such circumstances were present, and the maneuver posed an unnecessary risk to other drivers.”

As a result, the FIA has issued Verstappen a formal reprimand, marking his first of the 2025 season. While no grid penalty or fine was applied in this instance, the reprimand serves as a warning to the Dutchman, who now sits one step closer to the threshold of four reprimands, which would trigger an automatic 10-place grid penalty under FIA rules. The stewards noted, “The driver acknowledged the breach and expressed regret, but the regulations are clear on maintaining safety and order in the pit lane. This reprimand reflects the severity of the infraction while accounting for the lack of direct consequence in this case.”

The penalty adds a layer of intrigue to Verstappen’s campaign as he seeks to defend his Drivers’ Championship title. Red Bull, already under pressure after a challenging start to the season, will need their star driver to avoid further infractions to maintain their competitive edge. Verstappen, for his part, remained defiant yet pragmatic in his post-session comments: “It’s a small thing, but I’ll take it on the chin and move forward. We’ve got bigger things to focus on this weekend.”

The Bahrain Grand Prix weekend continues to deliver high-stakes drama, with qualifying and the race still to come. All eyes will be on Verstappen as he navigates the fallout from this incident while aiming to kick off his 2025 season with a victory.
