Not Only Did Oleksandr Usyk Defeat Tyson Fury And Anthony Joshua To Reach The Top Of The Heavyweight Boxing World, His Impressive Statistics Also Embarrassed His Two Opponents.

Not only did Oleksandr Usyk defeat Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to reach the top of the heavyweight boxing world, his super impressive statistics also embarrassed his two opponents.

Anthony Joshua was just knocked down 4 times when he lost by knockout in the 5th round of the IBF heavyweight title fight against Daniel Dubois. The shocking defeat of the two-time world champion Anthony Joshua, ironically, further enhanced the great image of Oleksandr Usyk.

The absolute heavyweight boxing world champion Usyk is possessing super impressive statistics. If you look at them, not only Joshua but also Tyson Fury must feel embarrassed.

Indeed! Before moving up to heavyweight at the end of 2019, Usyk left behind an unprecedented legacy in the weight class right next to him, the light heavyweight (cruiserweight).

After teaching Murat Gassiev “a boxing lesson” in their fight in July 2018, Usyk won 2 more WBA (Super), IBF belts, and The Ring title in the cruiserweight division.

In addition to already owning the WBO, WBC belts, that means Usyk became the absolute champion of this weight class when he captured all 4 prestigious belts and The Ring title.

In the history of professional boxing, there have only been 3 absolute champions in the cruiserweight division, but Usyk is truly unique, because the 2 previous champions: Evander Holyfield – O’Neil Bell were both crowned in the 3-belt era, not 4 belts like Usyk.

Not only that, that achievement also marked Usyk as the 4th male boxer in history to unify all 4 belts in any weight class of professional boxing in the world. But that still does not make the Ukrainian boxer.

Usyk moved up to heavyweight with a comprehensive victory, forcing Chazz Witherspoon to throw in the towel in round 7/12 in October 2019. Just 2 years later, at the age of 34, in September 2021, Usyk reached the top of the world when he defeated Anthony Joshua and won the prestigious WBA (Super), WBO, IBF belts from his opponent.

Eleven months later, Usyk defeated Joshua again in a title defense and won The Ring title. And when Usyk won convincingly on points against Tyson Fury in March this year to “strip” the WBC belt from his opponent, the Ukrainian boxer continued to make history by becoming the first absolute heavyweight champion since the monument Lennox Lewis in 1999. In fact, Usyk is the first absolute heavyweight champion in the 4-belt era.

With an impressive record of 22 wins (14 by knockout), Usyk also has a super-huge statistic that few people know: the fact that this 37-year-old boxer has never been knocked down in the heavyweight division.

In the match with Daniel Dubois last August, Usyk fell to his knees after receiving a body-shot from his opponent. However, the referee considered it an illegal situation when Dubois “punched Usyk below the waist”. Whether that situation was controversial or not, Usyk still won convincingly with a knockout in round 9.

Meanwhile, the opponent who had lost to Usyk twice, Anthony Joshua, had even been knocked down… 9 times.

Joshua suffered his first knockdown in round 6 of the classic match with Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017. That was the fight where Joshua came back to win by technical knockout in round 11.

The remaining 8 times Joshua knocked him down came in the match against Andy Ruiz Jr (2019) and most recently against Daniel Dubois.

Tyson Fury has been knocked down as many times as Anthony Joshua, with a total of 8 times, up to this point in his professional boxing career. Fury was knocked down for the first time when he met Neven Pajkic in 2011, and was knocked down the most times in the series of 3 classic fights with Deontay Wilder with a total of 4 times.

Even in the match against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou last October, Tyson Fury was knocked down humiliatingly by his new opponent right at the beginning of the match. And the last time Fury was knocked down was in the classic title unification match against Usyk last May.

In addition to Joshua and Fury, the boxer who is emerging as the world’s top heavyweight boxer, Daniel Dubois, has also been knocked down 6 times. 3 of those times came in the match against Kevin Lerena, 1 time against Joe Joyce and the 2 most recent times were in the match against Usyk last August.

Obviously, it is not without reason that Usyk is praised as the king, the absolute perfect champion of world boxing. And it will not be surprising if this December, the Ukrainian boxer continues to defeat Tyson Fury in the rematch with a perfect victory, continuing to maintain the miracle of not being knocked down once.
