Nicki Minaj Responds to $5 Million Lawsuit Filed by a Fan Claiming Defamation and Emotional Distress
Nicki Minaj has quickly addressed a new $5 million lawsuit filed against her by a fan who alleges reputational harm, emotional distress, and financial loss. The lawsuit, filed by Tameer Peak in Los Angeles Superior Court, claims that he has been a devoted fan of the rapper for over 15 years and even helped promote her album Pink Friday 2.
However, according to the lawsuit, things took a negative turn in 2017 when Minaj allegedly accused Peak and others of being “paid moles” out to sabotage her during what has been referred to as her “Nicki hate train phase.” Peak further claims that Minaj once invited him to her hotel to humiliate him on Instagram Live in front of 100,000 viewers.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges that her husband, Kenneth Petty, physically assaulted Peak during a Super Bowl weekend event in 2020, an incident that Minaj reportedly referenced in a later Instagram message. Peak also contends that Minaj spoke about him during her Stationhead live chats, referring to him as a “stalker” and questioning his mental stability.
In response to the lawsuit, Nicki Minaj’s attorney, Judd Burstein, issued a statement calling the claims “manifestly false” and “legally frivolous,” asserting that Peak has been harassing the rapper on social media for years. Burstein warned that Peak will regret pursuing the lawsuit when he is forced to cover Minaj’s legal fees under California law.
This legal battle comes on the heels of another significant victory for Nicki Minaj, who recently settled a defamation case with blogger Marley “Nosey Heaux” Green. Green had previously accused the rapper of drug use in a video but later admitted that her claims were baseless. As part of the settlement, Green is prohibited from making further comments about Minaj or her family, with each violation carrying a hefty penalty.
The latest developments underscore the continued scrutiny and challenges faced by high-profile artists like Nicki Minaj, as they navigate both public opinion and legal disputes.
