Nicki Minaj caused a stir among her fans on Thursday when she abruptly announced her retirement from music to focus on starting a family with Kenneth Petty. However, the following day, she backtracked and issued an apology for her ‘abrupt and insensitive’ tweet.
The 36-year-old rapper took to Twitter, expressing regret: “I’m still here. Still madly in love with you guys & you know that. In hindsight, this should’ve been a Queen Radio discussion & it will be.”
She promised her fans a more detailed explanation on her Apple Beats 1 show, emphasizing, “No guests, just us talking about everything. The tweet was abrupt & insensitive, I apologize babe.”
Prior to this apology, Minaj had posted a now-deleted tweet declaring her retirement: “‘I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now. To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, [check] in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. Love you for LIFE.'”
Despite her plans for family and marriage (she has changed her surname on social media to Mrs. Petty), Nicki reassured fans that she will remain active in the public eye. She also hinted at a forthcoming fashion collaboration with Fendi, titled ‘Fendi Prints On,’ set to launch soon.
Nicki Minaj’s recent announcements have sparked mixed reactions, but her dedication to her fans and her career remains steadfast.
