Russia ‘determined the stance clearly’ before the meeting of Trump

The Russian Foreign Minister said the country had clearly defined the stance in the summit between President Putin and his counterpart.

“We don’t predict anything. We know we have clear and specific arguments, stance. We will present them,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the media today.

Lavrov and the Russian delegation went to Anchorage city in the US state of Alaska, the venue will take place a summit between President Vladimir Putin and US counterparts Donald Trump.

The Russian Foreign Minister added that Moscow and Washington “have done many things” in the visitors of American special envoy Steve Witkoff to Russia. Since Mr. Trump returned to the White House in January, the Witkoff special envoy came to Russia 5 times to discuss the situation with Putin, including a negotiation that lasted three hours last weekend.

“Mr. Witkoff acted on behalf of President Trump. We hope that the two sides will continue this very useful dialogue,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

The summit between Mr. Trump and Putin is scheduled to start at 11:30 on August 15 (2h30 Hanoi time on August 16) at an facility of the Elmendorf-Richardson base in Anchorage. This will be the first meeting of the US -Russia leader since June 2021. The leaders of the two sides will meet in the form of one – one, only the translator participated.

The US President pledged not to sign a agreement with Russia, but will let Ukraine participate in all decisions of his fate. Mr. Trump also predicted that the probability of the failure was about 25%.
