Los Angeles Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow has been named to the National League team for the 2024 All-Star Game at Globe Life Field, Arlington, on July 16. Glasnow’s girlfriend Meghan Murphy shared a story celebrating the Dodgers star’s first All-Star nod.
Tyler Glasnow was traded to the Dodgers by the Tampa Bay Rays in the offseason. He played five seasons for the Rays and met Meghan during his time in Tampa.
The Dodgers shared a post acknowledging Glasnow’s first All-Star selection. Meghan shared that post in her story with a caption to celebrate Glasnow’s achievement.
Earlier this year, announcer Joe Davis, during a Dodgers game, revealed the interesting tale of how Tyler Glasnow met Meghan Murphy. Davis said that Glasnow spotted Murphy in the stands while playing for the Rays in 2021.
Glasnow found Murphy ‘cute’ and threw a ball with his number scribbled on it, asking Murphy to ‘text him.’ However, Murphy didn’t oblige and threw a ball at Glasnow in the next game asking the ace to text her instead. The duo has been together ever since.
Tyler Glasnow reflects on maiden All-Star call-up
Tyler Glasnow was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2011 MLB Draft, signing for the team for a $600,000 bonus. He was promoted to the senior team in 2016 when he made his MLB debut against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Glasnow struggled for the Pirates the next season and was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays after a stint in the bullpen. The 30-year-old improved his game tremendously in Tampam but injuries hampered his All-Star selection.
“It’s great,” Glasnow said. “It’s always been a goal of mine to go to the All-Star Game, and I think injuries and stuff in the past have made it not possible for me to go. So to be able to go this year, especially with the hometown team and everything (is exciting).”
Glasnow signed for his hometown team, Dodgers, on a five-year $136.5 million deal.
He will join five of his Dodgers teammates, catcher Will Smith, outfielder Teoscar Hernández, shortstop Mookie Betts, first baseman Freddie Freeman and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani in the NL team for the Midsummer Classic.
