Mr. Trump: The US will transfer more defensive weapons to Ukraine

President Trump announced he would send more weapons to Ukraine, but did not state the time and specific categories.

“We will transfer some more weapons. We have to do that. They are being attacked very violently and need to be able to defend itself,” US President Donald Trump said before the reception of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on July 7, referring to the military aid plan for Ukraine.

Mr. Trump emphasized that Ukraine is being attacked very violently and emphasized the weapons provided “mainly defensive weapons”, but does not specify the type of weapon and the time of transfer to Kiev.

Ukrainian officials have not commented on information.

The move took place after President Trump recently expressed disappointment with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin because he had no progress in the negotiation to end the Ukrainian conflict. “To be honest, I’m disappointed when Putin has not stopped. I’m not happy about that,” Mr. Trump said on July 7.

The White House last week announced the suspension of transfer to Ukraine with some important weapons that were committed earlier, due to the Pentagon reports that the US military reserves had decreased too deeply.

Sources are understanding the situation revealing the weapons of suspension of aid with the most modern PAC-3 MSE missile of the Patriot complex, AIM-7 mid-range surface-to-air missiles, AIM-9M short range, FIM-92 Stinger shoulder-to-shoulder missiles, many weapons used on F-16 fighters, Himars jet trailers, Hellfire anti-Hellfire missiles and drivers.

Experts say Ukraine is facing the risk of rocket drying, unable to deal with Russian ambushes after the US decided to stop aid. Meanwhile, Russia has recently continuously increased the number of missiles and unmanned aircraft (UAVs) in ambushes, in order to cause Ukraine air defense to be disordered and overloaded.

Since the outbreak of 2022, the former President Joe Biden government has provided Ukraine for more than 66 billion USD for military aid. However, Mr. Trump has long agreed with this policy and has not approved any new military aid package for Ukraine since taking office in January.

After the battle between President Trump and his Okrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in February, Washington suspended the provision of weapons and supported intelligence to Kiev in a short time.
