Montreal Canadiens forward be with the Vegas Golden Knights with Insane Transfer Price. What we know about Him and Player be sold…
Should this particular Montreal Canadiens forward be with the Vegas Golden Knights?
One particular Montreal Canadiens star could be a target of Kelly McCrimmon. What does he bring to the table?
Everyone loves a contrarian matchup. It doesn’t matter if it’s one of the oldest NHL franchises against one of the newest teams or the worst against the best. People love little bits of trivia that they’ll forget about later on. The Vegas Golden Knights will take on the Montreal Canadiens in a battle between two polar opposites.
The Canadiens are one of the oldest franchises in the NHL today. They’re old enough that they hung out with Keith Richards during prehistoric times. But seriously, they got their start in 1909, meaning your great-great grandfather probably watched them play hockey.
They’re also the most successful franchise in the NHL, winning 24 Stanley Cups. Granted, their last title was in 1993, which was also Canada’s last Stanley Cup. You also see a basement dweller in place of an actual hockey team. However, the Canadiens have been hockey’s gold standard for decades with names like Maurice Richard leading the way.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights are one of the newest NHL teams, starting in 2017. However, they’ve also been wildly successful. They’ve made the Stanley Cup playoffs every season (except 2021-22), four semifinal appearances, two Stanley Cup Final appearances, and won a title in 2022-23. That’s pretty good for the “new kids on the block.”
Ironically, neither franchise have won the President’s Trophy in their storied histories. However, one team is closing in on that feat with 53 points, two behind the Winnipeg Jets for the top spot. They’re also looking for another forward to add to their lower lines, which could come from their opponents on New Year’s Eve.
Introducing Montreal Canadiens star, Jake Evans
The Montreal Canadiens have a bottom-six forward named Jake Evans (10 goals, 13 assists) who could help the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights would get a center who’s great on the penalty kill. The Toronto native also has plenty of speed, making him a nice complimentary piece to Brett Howden.
Evans also has some physicality to his game with 47 hits this season. That’s a nice quality for a smallish forward (6’0″, 190 lbs.), but he’ll fit in nicely on the forecheck as well. Golden Knights fans shouldn’t expect the forward to score crazy goals (1.83 high-danger expected goals this season). However, he’ll make for a great add-on to the transition game.
According to Dave Jenkins of nhltraderumor.com, the 28-year-old would be swapped to the Golden Knights for prospect Matyas Sapovaliv and a couple of draft picks. The deal is generous for the Canadiens, who’d get a decent haul from Vegas for a short-term rental.
