In a recent interview following his match at the Monte Carlo Masters, Alexander Zverev offered a detailed account of his match against Matteo Berrettini, acknowledging both his opponent’s talent and his own efforts on the court. The match in Monte Carlo wasn’t easy for the German, as he suffered an ankle injury during the match, which affected his performance at certain key moments. Zverev shared his experience with the injury: “My foot was injured by a shot from Matteo. At the time, I felt a lot of pain, but I tried to hide it to keep playing. I had to stay focused on the match and not let it affect me too much.”

Despite his efforts, the result wasn’t what he expected. “I did everything I could, I gave my all, but in the end, I couldn’t avoid defeat. My foot was bothering me, and that clearly influenced my game. Although I tried not to show it, the truth is I’m not satisfied with the result. I wanted to win, but circumstances didn’t allow it,” the tennis player added.

In a reflective tone, Zverev made it clear that the defeat, although frustrating, would not diminish his determination to continue improving. “It’s a match I’m going to analyze and learn from. I’m confident that with time and hard work, I can overcome these adversities and be stronger for future tournaments.”
