3 MINS AGO 🔴 Gary Woodland makes prediction about Min Woo Lee after he wins the Houston Open by one shot

Min Woo Lee narrowly beat Gary Woodland and world number one Scottie Scheffler at the Houston Open.

Lee’s final round wasn’t flawless—he hooked his drive into the water on the 16th hole—but he was nearly perfect otherwise.

The 26-year-old had previously triumphed three times on the DP World Tour, including the Australian PGA Championship, but this marked his first PGA Tour win.

Following his breakthrough victory in the U.S., Gary Woodland shared thoughts on Lee’s potential.

Gary Woodland praises Min Woo Lee after Houston Open victory

Woodland didn’t play with Lee at the Houston Open – he was with Scheffler in the group ahead – but still knows all about the Australian’s ability.

Indeed, Woodland praised him in his post-round interview on Sunday: “First off, congrats to Min Woo. Everyone out here knows how talented the kid is.

“He’s an absolute stud. We all know once you break through for him, the sky’s the limit, so really happy for him.”

At 26 years of age, Lee definitely appears to have an excellent future in the game. He’s now up to 22nd in the world rankings from 55th last week.

He’s not in the field for next week’s Valero Texas Open, so he will try to continue his form at the Masters Tournament.

Golf fans thrilled for Gary Woodland after runner-up finish at Houston Open

Woodland had this to say about his own performance at the Houston Open: “For me, it was great just to get those juices flowing again, just to see some results. I’ve worked my tail off when I’ve been able to.”

And golf fans were so pleased to see Woodland near the top of the leaderboard, given that he underwent brain surgery in September 2023.

The 2019 US Open champion has been on a difficult journey back to competitive golf and this was his best result since his return.

Can’t be overstated just how impressive it is that Gary Woodland is back contending for PGA Tour titles just 18 months after surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.

“Gary Woodland being back on the leaderboard is so good to see,” one commented. “What a freaking day for Gary Woodland. Can’t even imagine how jacked up he is right now,” said another.
