Accordingly, legendary heavyweight champion Mike Tyson predicted an overwhelming victory for the boxer with the same name, Tyson Fury.
The confrontation between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is the focus of all attention around the world. While many people think that Oleksandr Usyk will become the first unified champion of the 4 prestigious heavyweight championship belts including WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF of the new era, others think that the new Tyson Fury is the one who firmly holds victory in his hands. And one of the people who has expressed support for Tyson Fury is heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson.
Mike Tyson believes that Tyson Fury will ‘overwhelm’ Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming match.
“I look forward to that fight [Fury Vs. Usyk]. It will be an interesting fight,” Tyson told FightHype.
“I’m leaning towards Tyson Fury because I think he’ll dominate Usyk. He would keep up with Usyk and dominate the fight. I have to side with Fury. I think he is the best fighter in the world, especially in the heavyweight division. Great fighters lose, great fighters look bad, that doesn’t stop them from being great fighters.”
This is a rather surprising prediction considering that Tyson was in the opposite corner of Fury in the current WBC heavyweight champion’s most recent match. Tyson helped former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou prepare for his boxing debut. In that match, under the hands of Tyson Fury, Ngannou even came very close to victory, but in the end, “The Gypsy King” was the final winner.
“Hey, we shouldn’t focus on Fury’s performance against Ngannou before, you have to understand that he’s still the champion. He made it a great night. He gave Francis Ngannou his chance, and it was just a bad night for him. We all have bad nights and that was his night.”
Fury and Usyk are set to compete for the title of the first unified heavyweight champion in more than 25 years. Previously, the legendary Lennox Lewis held this title.
