Mike Tyson is not worried about his upcoming boxing match with influencer Jake Paul – who is 30 years his junior.

The former heavyweight champion, who retired in 2005, is scheduled to fight the YouTube star on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The match will be streamed live on Netflix.

“Anyone [is a] threat [when] there are two men in the ring, everyone is a threat,” Tyson said when asked about the rising prizefighter, but added that he did not consider Paul a “formidable opponent”.

“I don’t think so, but we’ll see,” he said at a news conference Thursday. “I’m not worried about anything. If I was worried, I wouldn’t be here talking to you.”

Testosterone levels spiked after Tyson told the crowd he “was going to finish [Paul],” promising “a carnage, real bad things.”
“I gave him a warning: Fight like your life depends on it because it does,” Tyson said.

Responding to spectators chanting “F–k Jake Paul!”, the 27-year-old rose to the challenge, saying he hoped they “kept the same energy when I take this old man down.”

Despite the empty words, both fighters previously praised the other. During a 2022 appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Tyson said Paul “did a lot for boxing.”

In response, Paul told ET, “When one of the greatest boxing legends of all time in the history of the sport is supporting me and saying I’m saving the sport, what else do I need ? … It means the world. Uncle Mike is a great guy.”

Tyson, who turned 58 three weeks before the fight, last fought publicly in a 2020 exhibition bout with retired heavyweight champion Roy Jones, Jr. That match in Los Angeles ended in a draw.

At that same exhibition, Paul — who recently bulked up to 230 pounds to compete in the heavyweight division — knocked out former New York Knicks player Nate Robinson in that bout. He currently holds a 9-1 record, with six wins by knockout.
