Mike Perry is gearing up to disrupt the boxing world in a major way when he faces Jake Paul in the ring next month. The pair, who have a long-standing feud dating back to a sparring session during Paul’s early days as a professional boxer, will finally settle their differences under professional boxing rules on July 20 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Their rivalry has been fueled by footage of Perry telling Paul that he “kicked my a**,” though Perry has since asserted that their sparring session was much more balanced and that he posed significant challenges to Paul. Now, with the stakes higher than ever, Perry is determined to prove his point in the ring.

Paul, who is also planning a high-profile bout against Mike Tyson in November and has a significant deal with Netflix on the line, is considered the slight favorite. He has previous wins over MMA champions and boasts a considerable size advantage, along with more experience in professional boxing. In contrast, Perry is primarily known for his bare-knuckle fighting prowess.

Despite these odds, Perry is undeterred. On his Overdogs podcast, he vowed to “pummel” the social media star, saying, “Maybe I’ll still be passionate after I beat on Jake. I want to TKO him or knock him out or just pummel him so bad in the corner. I’ll put so much pressure on him that he just has to take a knee and he’s like ‘damn, what am I going to do?’ We’ll keep putting it on him and put the hooks on him and then get on that microphone and be p***ed off.”

Perry’s confidence is palpable as he envisions the moment after his potential victory. “Or I’ll be tired in the seventh or eighth round and get that microphone and be like ‘hey man, thank you everybody for coming out’. I think about it all the time ‘what am I going to say to the people after I win?’ That’s what I think about all the time.”

This bout represents a significant milestone in Perry’s career. After leaving the UFC with four losses in his last five fights, Perry has yet to taste defeat in his bare-knuckle boxing endeavors. Earning a pay-per-view headliner against Jake Paul is a point of pride for Perry, marking his journey from UFC journeyman to one of combat sport’s most notable names.
