Currently, Messi leads Argentina’s all-time appearance list with 183 caps. Following him are Javier Mascherano (147 caps) and Javier Zanetti (145 caps).

Although unable to find the net himself against Canada, Messi made a significant impact by assisting Lautaro Martinez’s goal to seal the 2-0 victory. Consequently, the 36-year-old superstar now holds the record for the most goals and assists in Argentina’s history at major tournaments, including the World Cup and Copa America, with 54 contributions (26 goals and 28 assists).

Throughout his career, Messi has provided 373 key passes resulting in goals for both club and national teams. This achievement stands as an unprecedented record in the world of football.

Since the beginning of 2024, Messi has appeared in a total of 17 matches across club and international levels, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists for his teammates.
