Meghan Markle’s estranged father has spoken out over his sadness regarding his two grandchildren.
Thomas Markle and his daughter’s family feud has long been in the public eye and he has admitted he sees no sign of reconciliation at this time with the former actress.
However, he has revealed his hope that one day they will come together for the sake of Meghan and Prince Harry ‘s kids, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3; Thomas is yet to have seen the youngsters in person.
Speaking to Mail Online, Thomas, who has just celebrated turning 80, told of his dream to meet the pair, saying: “I would love to meet my grandchildren, but I would be happy with a photograph at this stage.”
He also questioned why the Duke of Sussex has never introduced himself, either. Thomas didn’t walk his daughter down the aisle at the Sussex’s wedding in 2018 and he claims he is still unsure why he has never met the prince.
“He has the resources to fly around the world – and does – but why didn’t he come to see me, particularly when people in the royal household like Jason Knauf [Harry and Meghan’s former communications secretary] were urging him to do so? That has never made sense to me” Thomas continued.
He went on to question what type of man would marry someone without meeting their dad. Thomas added he had “deep empathy” for King Charles as he too deals with a strained relationship with the Sussexes.
As well as having questions for his daughter and son-in-law, Thomas said he would love a chat with the monarch to hear the unanswered questions he may have too.
Thomas and Meghan’s relationship severely crumbled following the Sussex wedding, with the couple having not spoken with him since. He was originally confirmed as attending the wedding, with Kensington Palace saying he would be walking his daughter down the aisle. However, things took a turn for the worse when Thomas became embroiled in a paparazzi scandal.
