Max Verstappen has revealed exactly how fast he went to the Nordschleife Nordschleife last weekend.

The four -fold world champion rode a Ferrari 296 GT3 around the famous German circuit in a surprising secret drive.
Max Verstappen puts the sizzling pace on the legendary number
He joins the Emil Frey organization, which enters two Ferrari 296 GT3s into the GT World Challenge Europe.
Although no official time has been set, Verstappen revealed that he has established a time under the round record of 7: 49.5 seconds.
“That’s right,” he told the media, including planetf1.com, when asked if his personal record was faster than the current record.
“But for me I am not there to prove that I can break the lap record or something else.
“I just have fun and learn the track with my team, Emil Frey.
“For them it is also a dream to be there for 24 hours. So we just have good speed.
“We are also lucky with the weather conditions, it’s really nice and sunny, it’s fantastic.”
Although faster than the lap record, the time of Verstappen did not count because it was not set in a race.
His performance was all the more remarkable because the car met the balance of the performance requirements.
In GT3 racing, cars are classified by a series of measures such as reduced power, weight adjustments or aerodynamic adjustments with the aim of balancing different brands and models in a race.
These limitations can be removed to meet the competition requirements, resulting in better performance.
The appearance of Verstappen in the Nordschleife was initially kept secret because he entered Franz Hermann under the pseudonym to prevent attention.
“They asked me to give a pseudonym, so I said, let’s make it as German,” he said.
“I knew that when I arrived there, people would recognize me, but at least I was not on the access list, so at least at 8 a.m. in the morning, it was fairly quiet.”
Since then he has joked that there has been contractual interest in Hermann.
“Franz is actually receiving a lot of contract deals at the moment, so he negotiates his conditions for the Nordschleife,” he said in a video posted on social media.
A sharp Sim -Racer, Verstappen spent countless hours on the German song in the virtual world, but last week’s journey was the first time he experienced the notorious Nordschleife.
“I put thousands of laps around it,” he said about the Nordschleife.
“So for me, if I go there in real life, it is important to know the grid better, the new asphalt in some places and then the grip level of the car.
“Of course there are a few obstacles here and there … The most important thing is that you know exactly where you are going, and I already knew that.”
This is not the first time that Verstappen has driven a GT3 car.
Instead of participating in a private track day as usual, this time he will not only participate in a public job day, but also on a number where Red Bull has left him earlier.
In 2023, Verstappen will not be able to add Sebastian Vettel to schedule for an F1 demonstration.
There are no restrictions on the GT machine, because he sees this trip as a factual mission before he can race at the location.
Verstappen has long had ambitions to race outside of Formula 1, in particular events such as the 24 hours of Le Mans.
Last year the Red Bull Driver tested the Acura ARX-06 on Las Vegas Speedway.
Earlier this year he admitted that he had talked about the prospect of racing at Le Mans with Fernando Alonso, who won the event with Toyota in 2018 and 2019.
