Mahomes Explains How Fatherhood Fuels His Focus, Fitness, And Fire On The Field

The Chiefs quarterback credits his three kids for keeping him grounded, mature, and motivated as he heads into his 30s.

Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to big wins. With three Super Bowl titles under his belt before turning 30, he’s already in elite company. But as the Kansas City Chiefs’ star QB shared recently, his most life-changing role might not be on the gridiron, but at home, as a dad of three.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the 2025 NFL season,Mahomes opened up about how raising his children, Sterling, Bronze, and newborn Golden, has changed him both mentally and physically. “I feel like kids age you a little bit,” he joked. “But they definitely make you grow up.”

Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, often share candid glimpses of their parenting life on social media, from bedtime stories to helping around the house. It’s a side of Mahomes that fans rarely see during the high-stakes NFL season, but one he clearly embraces.

How kids, teammates, and training keep him young

Despite logging five Super Bowl appearances, Mahomes insists he doesn’t feel like he’s approaching 30. One reason? Staying connected to the locker room’s younger generation.

“I try to relate to the younger guys,” he said, mentioning rookie receiver Xavier Worthy. “That kind of keeps you feeling young. I’m still not 30 yet, so I think I’ve still got time.”

But Mahomes is also realistic. He knows that as he moves deeper into his career, the demands on his body will increase. Unlike in his early twenties, bouncing back from hits and fatigue takes more planning and intention. “Now I have a better understanding of what my body needs and the standard I have to meet every day,” he said.

Longtime trainer Bobby Stroupe, who has worked with Mahomes since he was nine, continues to play a key role in keeping the QB in peak shape.

Grounded by family, driven by legacy

Mahomes says having his wife and kids at Arrowhead Stadium before games, especially those pre-game kisses, helps remind him of what really matters. That emotional anchor, combined with a decade-long training regimen and a championship mindset, is how he plans to dominate the next phase of his career.

As Mahomes eyes his 30s, he’s not just chasing more rings, he’s leading by example, on and off the field.
