The girlfriend of late singer Liam Payne has returned to the US and is facing a very different lifestyle to the one she enjoyed while with the One Direction star.
Sources say singer Liam Payne gives social media influencer Kate Cassidy, 25, $10,000 a month to cover living expenses. He also generously gives her credit cards to buy clothes and other expenses, often amounting to around $25,000 a month.
Cassidy began dating Liam Payne in late 2022 and the couple moved into a rented house in Wellington, Florida (USA), just weeks before the 31-year-old music star tragically fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 16.
However, according to TMZ , the couple’s spacious five-bedroom rental home was listed for rent at $9,950 a month in late October.
Earlier this week, Cassidy was photographed leaving the London apartment where she has been staying since Payne’s death in October.
In pictures published in the Daily Mail , she appeared upset as a friend helped load her luggage into the car before returning to the US.
“Kate has her own money, so it’s not like she has nowhere to go. She doesn’t have as much money as Liam, of course, but she’s not broke. She makes money through social media partnerships. She won’t live the lavish lifestyle she did with Liam, but she’ll be fine,” a close friend of Cassidy’s told Page Six .
While Liam Payne’s multimillion-dollar will has yet to be made public, the friend insists Cassidy won’t try to claim another penny.
The friend added: “Kate won’t be asking for anything from Liam’s fortune because they’re not married and Liam has a son.” Liam Payne has a son Bear, seven, with British singer Cheryl Cole.
“Liam Payne’s death has caused a financial crisis but Kate’s sadness has nothing to do with money. She is sad because she lost Liam. Money is not important but Kate will have to move and will find a new place to live,” the friend expressed.
Cassidy flew to the UK a few days after Payne’s death to be with family and friends, attending his funeral along with the rest of One Direction at St Mary’s Church in Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
In Argentina, the investigation into Payne’s death is still ongoing after hotel staff were accused of supplying drugs to the singer and a close friend was named in connection with the case.
A hotel representative made no comment, while the friend denied any wrongdoing, telling the Daily Mail : “I never abandoned Liam Payne, I visited the hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before the accident. There were over 15 people in the lobby chatting and joking with him when I left.”
