On Thursday’s instalment of This Morning, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley spoke with Clemmie Moodie, who spoke to Liam Payne’s girlfriend in an exclusive interview.
In October last year, the 31-year-old tragically died after a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Since then, his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has kept out of the limelight.

However, in an exclusive interview with The Sun, she opened up to Clemmie about her final days with Liam and addressed the reason she left the country days before he died.
When asked how Kate was during her first interview, Clemmie confessed: “She was shy, she was very image conscious, which I think is normal for someone who is 25 years old and has grown up on camera.
“That generation, that is their life. I got the impression that she was lovely, she was very sweet, she was very nervous. She didn’t want to upset anyone or offend anyone. But, at the same time, she was so scared to get something wrong, and that was sad to see.”

Clemmie highlighted how grief does funny things to people before detailing how Kate had lost the love of her life at a young age. She told Ben and Cat it was a hard interview to do.
When asked what made Kate want to do the interview, Clemmie shared that her team initially approached her in December. She added: “For me, I think she wanted to pay tribute to Liam, to share and revel in their love and their joy and their love story.”
Touching on the mistruths that have been thrown around since his death, Clemmie told the ITV hosts Kate wanted to clarify them. Cat asked: “Do you think she regrets leaving? How do you think she’s coping?

The journalist revealed that was the hardest question she had to ask Kate. Ben informed viewers Liam and Kate were together in Argentina, and then she flew back to America four days before he died.
Speaking about what Kate had said, Clemmie added: “She said, ‘We were in such a great place, we were really happy; I had no indication that his mental health was wobbling.’”
Clemmie explained Kate had left the country as she needed to go back and look after their dog, not because they had argued. Detailing the future they had planned together, Ben touched on the moment Kate commented on Liam never returning to the home they had gotten.

She told Ben and Cat that was the moment Kate had gotten emotional. Clemmie continued, “Little things she said off the cuff, those were real moments of reflection and sincerity. That was really heartbreaking. She had her life mapped out.
“She met him when she had just graduated from college in America, so she hadn’t really started looking for work. She thought she was going to be a full-time influencer, travelling the world with her boyfriend and husband. They were going to have kids, and at 25, that’s all gone. It must be terrifying.”
When Cat asked what moments Kate got most emotional, she revealed it was when she spoke about their dog, reminiscing about their favourite holiday in Lapland, and when she wasn’t thinking.
