Lamont Roach Has Made A Shocking Four-word Statement After Confirming A Rematch Deal With Davis.

‘Tank’ was making the latest defence of his WBA lightweight title at the Barclays Center in New York, looking to record another highlight reel knockout to go alongside his stoppage wins over the likes of Ryan Garcia, Frank Martin, Rolly Romero and Leo Santa Cruz.

It wasn’t to be though, with Davis struggling at times and failing to put in the type of performance that boxing fans have become accustomed to seeing from him.

Roach made it an extremely competitive bout, as reflected in the scorecards, with the fight ending in a majority decision draw after 12 rounds of action due to scores of 115-113 Davis and 114-114 twice.

Having shared the ring with ‘Tank’ for 36 minutes, Roach revealed to Boxing News just what he thinks of his rival’s power.

“It’s pretty decent power. I can see why he knocked some guys out for sure.”

Davis and Roach are now reportedly close to announcing a rematch, with Roach’s promoter Garry Jonas claiming that it is ‘a done deal.’

“Very close. In my mind, it’s a done deal, but there are formalities, but it’s a done deal, and it’s not far off. I can’t give you more than that right now, but I can tell you is that it’s going to be an interesting fight.”

The rematch will come after the controversy in the first bout, where ‘Tank’ took a knee but the referee decided not to score it as a knockdown. Davis later claimed it was due to grease being in his eye.

If the referee had scored a 10-8 round, it would have been enough to see Roach claim the win and become the new WBA lightweight champion, and it has now been revealed exactly what the challenger said to the referee during those controversial moments.
